A member asked:

Which test is appropriate to detect chlamydia trachcomatis for a 3 years kid girl?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on site: Suspicion of infection of lungs necessitates nasopharyngeal swabs or lung fluid for chlamydial culture. Eyes-conjunctivae: scrapings of the palpebral conjunctivae -can perform an antigen/dna detection test, chlamydial culture, or both. Urine: chlamydial organism can be captured for nucleic acid amplification testing (naat).
