Coccydynia: You have contused the area ( bruised). Use a pillow to sit on. Avoid activity that aggravates the area as much as possible. Can use ice to the area for up to 20 minutes. Over the counter pain relievers such as aleve or tylenol (acetaminophen) can help.

Bruise?: Can you take a mirror and look where you hurt. If you see a large red zit, then you could have an abscess and you will need to see a surgeon. If you don't see anything and it is tender to your touch, then you probably have a bruise. You can take otc pain medications and sit on a donut shaped cushion, if that helps. Bruises take several weeks to get better. Bruised tailbones can go on for mos.
