May be safer to wait: It may be safer to wait on the sex, as one does not want to increase one's chances of fevers, infections, or other problems during the week preceding any kind of surgery. The thought here is that sex sometimes leads to urinary infection symptoms. Needing a bladder catheter put in, soon after doing something that increases one's chances of urinary symptoms, might be made safer by avoiding the sex.
