Yes: There are many complex chemicals in gasoline. Most of them are harmful to health in high enough concentrations, but our bodies are able to protect us from damage. A developing fetus can't protect itself, and with some chemicals the mother's systems don't always break the chemicals down completely before the fetus is exposed. So it's best for pregnant mothers to avoid harmful chemicals.
