Is fifth disease pityriasis rosea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fifth Disease: Fifth disease, also known as "slapped cheeked disease" for it's classic red appearance on the cheeks, is caused by parvovirus b19. Pityriasis rosea is due to an unknown cause and typically begins with and oval, salmon colored patch know as a herald patch. Within days to weeks it spreads and can cause a "christmas tree" pattern on the back.
