Impossible to answer: What cancer did she have? Did she have high risk habits (like smoking)? How old when she had it? Anyone else in the family with cancer? How big is the family? Is there a gender predominance? Any shared exposures (they all lived with an in-house smoker, for example). Talk to your doc about this concern and see if you need to be evaluated by a genetics specialist.
