Swollen Bump: The first thing to do immediately after the fall is make sure the child is otherwise ok (ie: no loss of consciousness, no bleeding). Once that is done, it is best to place ice over the bruise. This may not eliminate the swelling completely but it will decrease it. After approximately 24 hours, there's not much we can do other than wait for the bruise to heal on it's own.
