How long will it take to shrink an enlarged liver?

Depends.: It depends on why the liver became enlarged in the first place. If whatever the underlying problem was becomes completely resolved, the liver might be able to shrink back down to normal within a few weeks. If the ongoing process is still present, it will never change and may get bigger. Hope that helps.

Ask for MELD score: Knowing your meld score may address your concern as to how badly damaged your liver may be and how urgently you need further intervention (e.g. Expectation of recovery with conservative treatment or not). Hepatomegaly (enlarged liver) is caused by a host of benign/reversible conditions and many that lead to irreversible injury). If drinking a lot of alcohol, would curtail use now for a start.
