Depends on platelets: I'm sorry to hear that he has cll. First check with his doctor that this is truly from chemo. Chemotherapy usually causes low blood counts. His platelets should start recovering soon on their own. As long as he is not bleeding a platelet count of 10, 000 or more is acceptable. If he is bleeding or if it less than 10, 000 then he needs a platelet transfusion to bring up his platelets.
