Very contagious: Tb is extremely contagious. You can contract it from being around someone with it. It can live on surfaces much longer than other germs. There is increasing resistance to multiple treatments for TB worldwide and also in the us. If you think you have been exposed, then get tested regularly.

Yes and no: There are several strains of TB and they pass through respiratory droplets, commonly requiring significant contact before passage. Most (not all) strains will respond to medications but slow growth and the need for prolonged medication (up to 1yr or more) use complicates treatment. Most are started on multiple drugs at the same time to prevent a resistance from emerging.Get tested if exposed.
