A member asked:

I'm immediately protected if i started taking bc pills on the 2nd day of my period correct?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, if you: Use them as directed. Immediate protection is not a word we like to use. Immediatly after mneses is not when you are at highest risk of pregnancy. The pill works, when taken regularly, by inhibiting ovulation, which occurs on cycle day #14 you should have protection this cycle if used as directed. Good luck.
