Yeast=fungus: Yeast is a fungus, by definition. Best treatment is to try to determine what may have provoked it? Changes in diet, sleep, stress, detergent, clothing, sex practices., etc. Second is otc anti-fungal like clotrimazole, Miconazole or any vaginal anti-fungal. If that doesn't work, then diflucan, (fluconazole) an oral pill. And lastly, elimination diet. A great book, the v book, goes into detail about yeast!

Not same: Many drs confuse the two. Everybody has yeast and fungi. Overgrowth may cause symptoms. Vaginal yeast overgrowth is often a result of antibiotic use. Fungus infection is on the outside, often the feet or inner thigh. While some treatments are effective for both, some are preferred for either yeast, usually monilia, or for fungus, usually dermatophytes.
