A member asked:

Why is my husbands lipase 450 and amylase 250 so high. they said he has cirrossis of the liver. those are pancreatic enzyme's.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I'm sorry: Elevated lipase and amylase can result from ongoing damage to the pancreas from alcohol -- perhaps refluxing up a damaged duct, or he may have a cystic fibrosis variant, a hereditary pancreatitis, or any of several other entities. Few diseases truly involve only one organ, and he may have more than one thing going on. This sounds serious and I am glad he has you to care for & love him.
