YES: Chronic venous disease is frequently under diagnosed and traditionally shunned by many mds. If you suffer significant consequence of venous hypertension (dermatitis, swelling, ulceration, chronic pain, etc ) - see your doctor asap and you may need to see a surgeon. Unfortunately, other veins can "pop up" as you age - like wrinkles.

Yes: There are very effective treatments for varicose veins. Patients are generally quite satisfied with their immediate and long term results. Varicose veins can recur after treatment but results are generally durable for many years. www.foxvein.com.

VV Treatment: Varicose veins are due to leaking (refluxing) valves usually in the saphenous vein system. The gold standard is to have a venous reflux exam and then seal the leaking valves with a closure procedure. The chances of recurrences of veins is about 2-3 % over 5 years. The treatment is very successful for both relief of symptoms and improvement in appearance. See a vein specialist.
