A member asked:

Is scabies an std/sti? will everyone in household catch it? if you have it, is itching a requirement?

Not necessarily std: Scabies is spread by any form of physical contact. It can also be contracted by sharing a towel clothing or a bed. Itching is the most characteristic feature but early cases may be asymptomatic.

Scabies can be : Spread by close physical contact (such as sex). It can also be spread by using the same bedding or clothing as someone who is infected with scabies. It is pretty common for the whole family to get it. Scabies looks like lines of burrows on skin made with little mounds or blisters. They cause itching which is often worse at night. Although they can be anywhere on skin they like going into skin fold.
