Mechanical action: Peptobismol is not a cure for travelers diarrhea (which may be produced by several different microorganisms and sometimes requires antibiotic treatment unless spontaneously resolves), but it provides some degree of symptomatic relief, the degree of effectiveness dependent upon the underlying disease.
