A member asked:

Whay does a fever cause rigors?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rigors: These uncontrollable shaking chills usually create fever through muscle activity, prompted by neurological impulses emanating from an area of the brain called the hypothalamus under the stimulus of pyrogens (fever inducing chemicals). Rigors are felt to occur primarily in either patients with malaria or very severe bacterial infections with organisms released in mass into the blood stream.
