Find the cause: Dry mouth can be caused by many different things. Smoking or tobacco use, medicines, mouth breathing, snoring, surgery, and certain diseases (diabetes, autoimmune conditions, stroke). Talk with your doctor to uncover the underlying cause. Also make sure you are staying hydrated by drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily (unless you have a medical condition that requires volume restriction).

A few options: Sugarless gum helps a lot. Some medications cause dry mouth, so read the labels or ask your pharmacist. Sugarless mints or candy (especially sour) can also stimulate more saliva production.

Talk to your Dentist: There are any reasons for dry mouth, some systemic, some because of medications. Products from Biotene or Closys can provide symptomatic relief. But it would be better to identify the cause and make the necessary adjustments.
