Acromegaly: Over secretion of growth hormone is caused by a benign tumor of the pituitary gland. It causes a disorder called acromegaly, in which there is enlargement of the soft tissues of the body, as well as organ enlargement. Without treatment it will lead to heart failure, arthritis, excess sweats, distortion of facial features, headaches, possible visual loss, increased risk of colon cancer.
