Not necessary: Single testicle usually produces both enough testosterone ; sperm for all amle fuctions including fertility. Testosterone production is regulated by the pituitary gland which will compensate for the loss of a single testicle. However testosterone production is also age related, so that loss of a testicle after middle age might result in low testosterone production which can be replaced exogenously.
