Different molecules: Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine called ceterizine and Allegra is fexofenadine. They both block histamine type 1 receptors on cells and diminish the allergic reaction. Overall, they have the same effect for people, but some people prefer one more than the other based on their personal responses to the rx.
