They can if...: If CF means cystic fibrosis, no reason why they can not.

Resistant germs: Cystic fibrosis patients can transmit resistant germs (pseudomonas and other bacteria, yeast and others) to each other, which can complicate treatment and even lead to severe infection or death. Because the medicines CF patients have to take are already so many and so strong, doctors try to keep patients as safe as possible from new threats.
