Referred pain: This is what may be a referred pain. The nerves come from a bigger nerve around the ear and branch out to the face and teeth. So if you have an infection on a tooth it may feel like anothr tooth and the pain can radiate to other areas like the ear. Also infections spread, so go to your dentist immediately.

Yes it can: Tooth infection can cause pain in the ear region if untreated..Very common with back molar infection..Should get it evaluated by your dentist..Before it gets worse..So can treat appropriately..And refer to otolaryngologist if needed.

Yes: Yes, if due to a tooth, would be unilateral (one side). Another possiblity is TMJ. Pain in joint, often limited opening., joint noises. See TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
