Why does blood pressure medication cause muscle pain?

Not typical: Blood pressure medications do not typically cause muscle pain. Diuretics which are used for treatment of high blood pressure may cause muscle spasms if they cause low potassium. Medications used to treat high cholesterol may cause muscle pains.
