A member asked:

How can i take the redness away from cried-out eyes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tears, time: While crying, the eyes become red. This is mostly caused by engorgement of blood vessels on the white of the eye as part of normal crying. The redness subsides naturally in a matter of minutes to hours (especially if you have been rubbing the eyes while crying). Artificial tears may soothe the sting from excess tears, but will not significantly speed up the resolution of the redness.
