Can a girl have sex before her first period?

Many do: I find the sexual practices of kids vary greatly. Some will have unprotected intercourse before their first period thinking they cannot get pregnant. However, that is not true.My first delivery as a medical student was a 13 yo who never had a period. Their body is often not ready for the consequences of sex, and they are prone to the same std's as older women.
