Can i swim with a cold sore?

Yes: Most cold sores are triggered by sun exposure. Sunscreen, including a sunscreen stick, is indicated. Be prepared with valacyclovir to take 2 gram (2 pills of 1 gm each) at first tingling when next episode begins. Crucial to have ready for immediate use. Or take valacyclovir 500mg (acyclovir800mg) daily during vacation to prevent it. Side effects are rare & never serious.
