No: Plan b does not cause the period. It may delay ovulation and therefore delay the period but only for a day or two. It can inhibit conception by decreasing tubal motility and thickening the cervical and tubal mucous.

It depends: Depending upon where you are in your cycle when you take Plan B it may interfere with ovulation or with the maturation process of the uterine lining. In any case, abnormal bleeding is a common effect. If your full period comes you can expect to go back to a regular cycle. I suggest you get on another birth control method in the mean time. If you are uncertain what is happening, do a pregnancy test.
