Don't: C a surgeon first or ur pcp. 2 much pushing may cause bruising and swelling of the hernia contents & then it may become a surgical emergency.

Relax: Lay down, jeep your head down so the abdominal pressure stays low, and gently but firmly push the lump through the hole with steady, pressure, sometimes in a massaging fashion. If you can't do this, see a doctor asap. If you have to do this at all, you should have the hernia repaired by an experienced general surgeon.
