Mid-cycle: If the first day of your period is "day 1" then tpyically you ovulate around day 14 (9 days after period over) and 14 days before next one. These are based on a 28-day cycle. Obviously this varies but the concept of mid-cycle for ovulation doesn't.

Before and after: Before and after, in your mid-cycle, 14 days after your period starts, and if you have a period every 28 days, 14 days before the next one, approximately.

Before: Ovulation causes changes to the uterine lining preparing it for pregnancy. If conception does not occur, the change in hormonal levels (dropping) causes menses (the lining is shed) to occur and the menstrual cycle to begin again. Women who do not ovulate, often do not menstruate.

Mid cycle : You ovulate approximately mid cycle. Specifically you ovulate 14 days prior to expected period. Therefore in a typical 28 day cycle, you would ovulate on day 14.

Ovulation: One usually keeps tract of periods by counting the first day of the period as day 1. Ovulation occurs mid-cycle. So if your cycle was 28 days long - it would be around day 14. The period will follow if one does not get pregnant.

Ovulate on period: No, you do not ovulate on your period. The ordinary menstrual cycle has ovulation occurring approximately 14 days prior to the onset of the menstrual period.

Ovulation: Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary ready for impregnation. If you ovulate you have periods unless you get pregnant when you ovulate. Missing periods usually means pregnancy. If one is not pregnant then the interruption of the period usually means the interruption of ovulation and this can be caused by extremes such as stress, weight loss, dieting, obesity and hormones.

Misinformed?: You are confusing how your body works. A period means you did not get pregnant earlier in the cycle when you ovulated. Ovulation and menstruation happen at opposite ends of your cycle. They do not happen at the same time.

No: No, you don't ovulate during your period. If you count back 14 days from the first day of your period, you can get an idea when you ovulated. Most women have a 28 day cycle, and they ovulate on cycle day 14 (cycle day 1 is the first day of your period), then they have their period 14 days later (cycle day 28).
