Albuterol: In case of exacerbation you can take albuterol 2 puffs every 4-6 hours as needed. But if for maintenance you use it more than 2 puffs twice a week, you asthma is not controlled and you need a maintenance inhaler. Please do not delay your treatment.

Not necessarily: If albuterol is needed to control your shortness of breath / cough, then use it (not 6 puffs at a time though - use as instructed by your doctor). However, if you are using albuterol frequently (e.g. Almost every day or several times each week), then you may need a maintenance medication for your breathing. (albuterol is short-acting). Treat underlying allergy issue. Please see your doctor.

Depends on dose of : Each puff. The max suggested dose 2-4mg four times a day. Six puffs, not likely too much of a problem. If you are having breathing issues that are causing you to overuse your albuterol, you may want see your physician as soon as possible. Also may need to see your doc if you are having agitation and jitters, or extreme muscle aches or change in heart rhythm.

Okay: Okay for acute exacerbation. People who need daily albuterol will probably require asteroid inhaler.
