Could be due to infection, endometriosis, or a cyst or polyp on the cervix.: Painful intercourse, also known as dyspareunia is caused by a variety of different things. Some common causes include a polyp on the cervix that is causing pain when encountered by pressure from the penis during intercourse. Any kind of vaginal or cervical infection could also lead to pain during or after intercourse. Lastly some women can experience pain during or after intercourse if they have endometriosis. It is important to contact your healthcare provider if you are having this symptom.
