Typically disc herniations will resolve on their own as soon as 3-6 weeks or as late as 6-9 months. Just depends on how you take care of yourself, exercise, anti-inflammatories, tylenol (acetaminophen) and if you need to lose weight that will help immensely.

Ice: 30 min on, 30 min off(frozen corn works well) for 1 day then change to same routine with moist heat. Motrin800mg every 8 hours. Sleep with legs bent and pillow beneath legs and between knees. Take short but frequent walks. No bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting or sitting for long.
