Drainage may cure: Mrsa will spread if drainage alone not cure, ask if the culture showed suseptability to bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim).

Abscess antibiotic: In general once an abscess has been drained additional abc though conventionally advised are not indicated if the abscess was small and localized make sure it gets better.

Talk to your doc!: Communication is key. Talk to doctor caring for you. He knows more about you than some online guy/gal. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a standard sulfa antibiotic used for skin infections, especially when worried about drug-resistant bacteria, eg mrsa. What side effects are you afraid of? I would only worry if you said anaphylaxis. Aside from that, i'd be more worried about cellulitis.

U should be fine: Unfortunately, all meds have a list of side effects!if you aren't allergic to sulfa antibiotics, you should be fine.Most common se are nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite.This does not mean that you will def experience this.If you develop a rash or swelling of the face, take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and report to your doc.If you experience breathing problems, go to the er! in most cases, you'll be just fine!
