Besides wellbutrin, (bupropion) what other antidepressants tend to be activating, rather than sedating, in nature?

Welbutrin is unique: In that its effect is mediated through dopaminergic system. Not all other antidepressants( ssri and snri )not are sedating . There is a new one out there that has a unique property than the typical ssris called viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) . It is new and does not have that much track record. The company claims that the sexual side effect and weight and metabolic profile is better than the mentioned medicine

Antideprresants: Most of the newer antidepressant are well tolerated and not very sedative. It all depends on patient response. Try buspar, Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) or lexapro.
