Hard 2 tell: In different women it takes different amount of time for the periods to retun. It also depends on whether you are breast feeding or not. In some it may take over a year for the periods to return, whereas for others 6-8 weeks.

4-8 weeks avg: If not breast feeding menses may return in 4-8 weeks. If breast feeding the return of menses is indeterminate. Contraception should be used regardless of breastfeeding.
