May be related to : Statin use which can start anytime, and recommend speaking with your physician about this. Also may be something called occipital neuralgia if the shooting pain is occuring on just one side of your head. Speak to your physician about this, may refer you to a pain physician for diagnostic blocks. Hope this helps!
