A member asked:

Bone marrow donations take how many needle sticks in the hips?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bone marrow harvest: A standard bone marrow biopsy test involves 1 or 2 needle insertions into the iliac crest bone. Depending on the size of the recipient and how many cells are needed it can be from approximately 20-50 needle insertions on each side for a bone marrow harvest/donation.
