Access: Good question. 1) bone marrow is present in multiple locations including the "long bones" (arms, legs), sternum, and hips , 2) the psis - posterior superior iliac spine (hip) is relatively flat with a thinner cortex, so is easier to access and is not near vital structures (like the heart and lungs).
