What's a good narcotic for hip replacement pain?

Many options: I personally like Nucynta (tapentadol) as it works a bit differntly than others out there. It blocks multiple pain pathways (rather than just one). It has fewer side effects than other similar medications.

Several choices: Pain management after hip replacement is usually up to you and your surgeon to discuss and decide. Most orthopaedic surgeons will use a "multi-modality" pain management approach, in which we use several different types of medications (tylenol, celebrex, (celecoxib) lyrica) to prempt (i.e. Stop pain before the brain registers it). Narcotics, like norco, are still used, but only for "breakthrough" pain.

Hip: What your surgeon prescribed would be the best option.
