Sadly, YES!: Cancers of the brain, be they metastatic (from another part of the body) or primary (arising in the brain) are a frequent cause of death. Tumors like meningioma are almost always benign and are successfully treated surgically.

Yes: In particular, when you speak about brain cancer, this often refers to the grade IV astrocytic or glioblastoma. This is a highly malignant cancer and despite new advances into the molecular biology, there is no cure at this time. Great strides have been made to extend the progression free survival time, but there still is a lot of work to be done.
