Absolutely: Many types of cardiomyopathy are inherited. It is very likely that may be the case in your family where two generations are affected. You should know your complete family history and have a thorough evaluation by a cardiologist.

Good idea: Some types of cardiomyopathy are inherited. Getting a good physical and getting an ekg and echocardiogram would seem prudent given your family history.
