Differences: Main difference of acute liver failure and cirrhosis is that acute liver failure within very short period of time, somewhere between within one week to 26 weeks. Cirrhosis usually occurs over period of years. Other important point about acute liver failure is that life expectancy without liver transplant is extremely short (usually days to week).
