Other diseases: While the typical types of color deficiency are due to an inheritance through the genes, color deficiency can occur from inherited retinal diseases like retinitis pigmentosa, diffuse retinal damage such as advanced diabetic retinopathy and a few rare individuals with a stroke in the color perceptive part of the brain which can eliminate color recognition.
