A member asked:

How long do i need to use protection after antibiotics while on ocp's?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Don't worry: This is a common myth. Ordinary antibiotics do not increase the risk that your birth control pills will fail (an exception is rifampin, used to treat tb). Contraceptive failures do occur, but antibiotics do not increase that chance. And yes, i know that certain pharmacies include this warning on their drug information, but it is not accurate.
