Depends: Ramipril is used for blood pressure control, to improve heart function after a heart attack, and to preserve renal function. Each of these indications has alternatives. Discuss with your doctor. Note the most common side effect of ramipril, an ace inhibitor, is cough. Other acei will also cause cough.
