A member asked:

What can happen when your gallbladder collapses and is not functioning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Maybe nothing if there are no gallstones. Poorly functioning gallbladder without gallstones can cause upper abdominal discomfort & nausea. It would not cause an emergency problem. See your doctor who ordered the tests to see if you need a referral to a surgeon for possible gallbladder removal, if you are having symptoms from your gallbladder.
