Depends on size: A normal adult kidney ranges 9-13 cm in length, and will differ a bit with the gender. Taller, larger males, will have bigger kidneys than shorter, smaller, females. However, the volume of the kidney is a better marker for kidney function than just the length of the kidney. A shorter thicker one may have more function. Also kidney function naturally declines with age.
