Pelvis Strain: During sex in the missionary position the women's legs leverage force onto her pelvis and sacroiliac joints on each side next to the spine. If these joints are loose due to benign joint hypermobility syndrome (see below) the joint ligaments can become pulled and stressed. Stretched ligaments really hurt. In such cases a position of spooning might alleviate the ligament stretch.
