Averages = useless: Lots of variability. But rarely under 3 mths - perhaps half a year - some go on and on. This range makes "average" pretty useless for thinking about a specific case. Talk with the therapist to help know the individual's duration likelihood.

Mania: In cases of bipolar where there is rapid cycling, it can be as little as a few minutes. Where rapid cycling isn't manifesting, mania can go on for hours or even days.
